WHITE BEES - Kalliopi Lemos
Made for artist Kalliopi Lemos as part of her exhibition Navigating in the dark part III -2011
Each bee was sculpted in clay and then a silicon and fibreglass mould was made of each body part.
Japanese paper was used with clear resin to laminate each section. The wings were fabricated in fibreglass tissue, clear resin and acrylic rods.
Once each individual part was made they were delicately assembled and strung in the crypt of St Pancras Parish Church where their translucency was illuminated to contrast from their dark surroundings.
